Serving the Church
You glorify God by serving the Church, the Community and the Public. There are many ways you could use your abilities and talents to serve.
Here are some of those ways:
Chapel Volunteer
On Sundays, we need several volunteers to set up the altar, arrange seating in the Chapel, set up sound and media equipment, prepare the Sunday School space and organize the refreshment area. Volunteers need to arrive by about 8:30 AM to help with these chores. You may sign up with the Secretary for the Sundays of your choice.
REFRESHMENTS
After the Holy Qurbana, we gather together for fellowship and friendly conversation for a few minutes. On most Sundays, refreshments or lunches are provided by voulnteers. We'd ask each memebr to consider donating and serving refreshments/lunches once a year.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
We need creative and energetic individuals with a devotion to bringing out the best within our children. Helping to bring up children to lead a Christian life is a testimony to your commitment to spread the Word of God. Please contact the Principal for further information on how you could help as a teacher.
MUSIC
The way we worship is an expression of our gratitude to God for the good things we enjoy in life on earth and for the hope of eternal life beyond our earthly existence. Music and songs add to the feeling of sanctity and serenity of worship. As we gradually transition from being an immigrant community to becoming an integral component of the American society, we have the challenge and the opportunities to get our young generation appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of Orthodox worship. We could become a constructive influence in accomplishing this at the Diocesan level, perhaps with appropriate adaptation to fit the environment and language in this country. We implore those members with musical skills and devotion to service to step up and support our music projects. Prayer: John 15:7 "But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!" Matthew 26:41"Keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For though the spirit is willing enough, the body is weak!"
PRAYER MEETINGS
We hold frequent prayer meetings, especially during the Lenten season. Please join us whenever you can. We gather to pray for ourselves; for each other; for America, the land that welcomed us and gave us the many opportunities; for India. the land that gave us a rich heritage and continues to inspire us; and for all nations of the world.
HELP THE COMMUNITY
Often people in the community need a little help on occasions such as birth of a baby, moving from one house to another, sickness, bereavement, auto repair, house repair, etc. If you could, please look for an occasion to help others
