Chapel Volunteering

Task List
I. Before the Church Worship Begins (a) Help Achen move the alter items that he carries with him from his car to the chapel (b) Move the alter table from the center of the chapel to the alter (c) Move the items (candles, etc.,) required for the alter from the locker to the chapel (d) Move the picture frames from behind the big cross (behind the alter) to their respective locations (e) Move the items (speakers, etc.,) required for the service from the locker to it's customary place in the chapel (f) Fill all the candles with oil (g) Place copies of the Qurbana books on the chairs (h) Place the microphones on it's stands (i) With the acolytes assistance, connect all the microphones and the speakers to the PA system (j) Setup the coffee pot, tea kettle, sugar and cups on the Drinks Table in the café II. During the Church Worship (Towards the End) (a)Usher folks who are hanging out in the hallways into the Chapel (b)Ensure that both the Chapel doors are closed at all times (c)Brew a fresh pot of coffee (as late as possible, but before the service concludes) (d)Greet Newcomers and Help Achen identity Newcomers during the announcements. III. After the Church Worship (Immediately following the Kai Muthu) (a) Collect all the Qurbana books and put it away in it's assigned container (b) Carefully dismantle and store all equipment hooked up to the PA System (c) Help Acolytes put away all the items used on the alter (d) Put all the picture frames behind the big cross behind the alter (e) Move all the PA equipment and alter items to the locker (f) Move the table from the alter to it's original position in the chapel (g) Inspect the chapel and the adjoining hallways/corridors and pickup and throw away any candy wrappers, food plates, napkins etc., that our patrons may have left behind. If necessary, vacuum the chapel (h) Turn off the lights and close the chapel doors (i) Help Achen pack and move the items he uses for the Service to his ca
If you're unable to fulfil your obligation due to an emergency that results in you being unavailable on that day, please make arrangements to exchange your volunteer date with one of your friends and notify the Committee of the swap/change Chapel Volunteers are expected to arrive at Church an hour before the service begins (On Sundays, the morning prayers begin at 9:30AM, so volunteers should get there at 8:30AM). Achen has the key to the Chapel building and will arrive at 8:30AM PA System, coffee/tea utensils and moving cart etc., can be found in the Church Locker (6 ft. grey aluminium bureau) which is located in the right hand corner in the hallway before you enter the café. Keys can be obtained from Achen, Secretary or Treasurer Shoes are not permitted in the Chapel, especially in the Alter Please keep an eye on the clock and ensure that the Church Service starts ON TIME !!!
